How to choose the right Lowcountry neighborhood

I want the lowest price point

Look at Jasper County (Ridgeland/Hardeeville), Burton, or Port Royal. New construction in Jasper starts in the low $300s.

I want waterfront or water views

Beaufort's Point and Battery Creek area, Port Royal's boardwalk, Lady's Island marsh-front homes, or Hilton Head for oceanfront.

I'm military and need to be near base

Port Royal (5 min), Burton (8 min), or Beaufort (10 min) to MCAS Beaufort. Lady's Island is 12 min and offers more space.

I want to know about local schools

Beaufort and Jasper counties are served by separate school districts. Buyers should verify current school assignments directly with Beaufort County School District or Jasper County School District.

I want investment / rental income

Hilton Head has an active short-term vacation rental market. Jasper County has seen strong appreciation from new development. Beaufort has steady long-term rental demand. Rental income is not guaranteed. Buyers should verify local regulations, HOA rules, insurance costs, taxes, and projected occupancy before purchasing an investment property.

I'm retiring and want low maintenance

Sun City in Bluffton (55+ community), Dataw Island off Lady's Island (gated golf community), or a Hilton Head plantation.
